If you were injured in an auto accident in the State of Oregon and have automobile insurance, your expenses to see a complimentary alternative health care practitioner are covered, even if the accident was your fault. This coverage allows you to be treated for your auto accident related injuries with a simple referral from your chiropractor or medical doctor.
We have hundreds of hours of experience providing massage therapy and acupuncture for those suffering from an injury related to a car accident. Massage can benefit in recovery for many injuries brought on by an automobile accident, including whiplash, neck and back injuries, tendon damage, muscle spasms, myofascial pain, headaches, migraines, and insomnia (pain can interrupt sleep).
We make it easy for you – just follow these simple steps:
- Contact your primary care physician or doctor of Chiropractic. (Chiropractic treatment is also covered under your auto insurance.) Don’t have a chiropractor? We can highly recommend several experienced individuals, including Dr. Noe Flores.
- Your physician or chiropractor will write you a prescription for massage. The synergistic effects of chiropractic, massage and acupuncture treatments together will aid in your speedy healing and reduce discomfort.
- Schedule an appointment with one of our Licensed Massage Therapists and Acupuncturist. Simply bring your massage prescription along with the following insurance info:
- a. Insurance company name, address and phone number.
b. Incident claim number.

Medical Massage
Medical massage is a term that refers to special techniques used when massage is part of the overall treatment of medical problems stemming from trauma to the body.  This form of massage is often, but not always, done under the instruction of a physician in the case of work-related injuries or auto injuries and focuses on addressing the affected area(s). Your therapist will conduct a thorough health intake during each massage session and develop a treatment plan to provide you with the most appropriate treatment for your injury. Therapists will document progress and work closely with other health care providers to provide you with the best care. Your massage may include advanced myofascial techniques, cranio-sacral therapy, deep tissue techniques, relax and contract techniques and post-isometric relaxation techniques on the affected muscles and joints. In accordance with UCR (usual, customary and reasonable) fees this service is available in 15 minutes increments at a rate of up to $40.00 per unit and is based on actual time spent on behalf of the client.
Billing Services
There are many situations where massage and acupuncture services may be covered by an insurance provider, such as work-related injuries or auto injuries.  Today more and more insurance companies offer an alternative health benefit plan. To find out if massage therapy or acupuncture is covered under your health plan, please contact your insurance provider or give us a call at 503.281.0278 and we can help you. Many insurance plans will require you to see a specific provider – fortunately we have several therapists that accept personal heath insurance. If your insurance plan states you can see any provider, you can schedule with any of our therapists and we will be happy to bill your insurance. Massage therapy can be a self-referral service or may require a physician to provide a prescription for you – please check with your insurance provider. You are responsible for any co-payments at the time the service is rendered.
If you have recently been injured on the job or in an auto accident you may be eligible to receive massage, acupuncture and chiropractic care for up to one year from the date of your injury and at no out of pocket cost to you.  An initial exam from a doctor or chiropractor, complete with a prescription, is required to receive coverage for massage services. Acupuncture is available without a prescription. We are happy to provide billing services for treatment with the necessary documentation.  This includes a prescription for treatment, claim number, date of injury and insurance company contact information.
Please call Zama 503.281.0278 to find out more information or email info@zamamassage.com and we will respond within 24 hours.
